Introduced in 1982, the 40 Aft Cabin was Silverton’s first double cabin design. She turned out to be a sales success for Silverton, and her popularity was due in large part to her roomy accommodations and an affordable price. She was built on a solid fiberglass hull with a relatively wide 14-foot beam and a shallow keel for directional stability. Her two-stateroom interior is arranged with the galley and dinette down, separated from the salon by serving counters. This is a fairly roomy layout for a 40-footer with wraparound windows providing plenty of natural lighting. Both heads are fitted with shower stalls, and light oak interior woodwork replaced the original teak joinery beginning with the 1985 models. There’s room for several pieces of deck furniture on the full-width aft deck, and the flybridge is arranged with guest seating aft of the helm. Note that the two-piece entryway door from the aft deck into the cabin is somewhat difficult to negotiate. Additional features include a teak and holly galley sole, full-size refrigerator, integral bow pulpit, and a swim platform. Standard 350hp gas engines cruise the Silverton 40 Aft Cabin at 15–16 knots.

Dinette and Galley Forward and down to starboard is a wrap around booth that seats 6 and is capable of making into a double bed. This dining area is open to the galley with shelving and storage all around. The galley impresses with a large basin sink, 3 burner stove and large refrigerator/freezer.
